Embark on a culinary and cultural adventure in Kensington and Borough Park, Brooklyn. With Uzbek instructor Damira as your guide, visit a Borough Park bakery that is straight out of Samarkand and explore Kensington’s Little Uzbekistan.
Experience a small, bustling slice of Samarkand in Brooklyn while you learn all about Bukharan Jewish bread at Damira’s favorite Borough Park bakery. Then, learn about the extremely diverse Kensington neighborhood as you explore Damira’s favorite grocery store and butcher shop. With Damira’s help, you’ll get the real insider scoop on authentic Uzbek ingredients and cooking. After your shopping, you’ll grab a well-deserved snack at a grand, two-story banquet hall/dance club where Uzbek families celebrate special occasions over traditional dishes. After your snack, explore Little Uzbekistan yourself to burn off that rich Uzbek cuisine and decide what to take back home to your own kitchen.
