Camden is the center of everything creative in London, from music to fashion to art! Let a local guide share their first-hand knowledge of the history of contemporary music in Camden, from early Pink Floyd performing at the Roundhouse in 1966 through to the emerging Indie scene of the 1980s up to the establishment of Camden as the home of all the major Brit Pop artists of the 1990s.
Learn about the establishment of Camden Town and Primrose Hill during the Industrial Revolution and the recent gentrification of these areas. Experience the contrasts between poverty and homelessness in Camden Town and the opulence of Primrose Hill where many famous celebrities live. Visitors will also experience iconic views of London, discover hidden areas around Camden, and walk along the Regent’s Canal path. This tour will last 2 hours.
I took the Unseen Tours walk around Camden and Primrose Hill with Mike yesterday. It was the best walking tour I have ever taken (done quite a few in London and Europe), with the very personal input from Mike leaving a memorable impression upon us all I think. I would never have found out the information he imparted about the local area any other way - even Google has its limits. Highly recommended and worth every penny. Hint: take along a little extra cash because you will definitely want to tip Mike by the end (not that he expects it).
I liked the stories Mike told. As the Italians say: e non e vero, e ben trovato. I like Camden, thanks to the stories. The area is even more interesting to me.
Thank you for this wonderful experience - Mike was a fantastic guide who kept us entertained to the end of the tour with his stories about rock n roll Camden and his rockstar neighbors - this definitely is a tour of contrasts (as he calls it) and is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to see another side of London. Most of all, Mike's story was incredibly moving and I'm happy to have found out about and supported such a worthy cause.
For people looking to explore this side of London, with its vibrant culture and rich history, it would be a fantastic tour to join. The guides know the area really well and are happy to answer all your questions. The tour covers everything from the rise of rock to celebrities in the area to this day. There's lots of walking involved, part of the tour is climbing to the top of Primrose Hill, so a moderate fitness level is required. But for those wanting to explore the less central part of London, this tour is perfect!
I did the Unseen Tour in Camden with Mike, and it was absolutely fantastic! He was a brilliant tour guide, he kept us laughing and generally entertained the whole time, despite the chilly weather! I found it much more interesting and engaging to hear Mike's personal story and perspective on Camden, than I would a typical historical tour. There were loads of chances to ask questions , and Mike made us feel very much at ease. If anyone's thinking about booking an Unseen Tour, I'd say go right ahead!
We visited Camden and Primrose Hill with Mike, with our teenage children. Thanks to Mike, a very pleasant and interesting person, we retraced the history of rock, punk and indie bands that have played and worked in this area, as well as the transformations of these places throughout time. The contrast between the busy Camden Town and quite backstreets of Primrose Hill became very evident after Mike's description, who also told us about the many celebrities living around there. We strongly recommend this tour for its beautiful setting and for having learned about the stories of Mike and people like him.
This tour a great way to explore and see this dynamic local area and its history. Our guide Micheal introduced us several interesting spots and shared his own life experience while living in this area. Definitely worth choosing another unseen tour!!
