Surprise is a nonprofit organization that empowers the homeless with work opportunities, allowing them to maintain their dignity and freedom.
Tour revenue will be invested in providing training, coaching, and counseling for tour guides, who have all been affected by homelessness.

Embark on a tour built to change perspectives and show you a hidden side of cities worldwide. Visit charitable organizations and institutions which provide vital services to the homeless, those dealing with addiction and alcoholism, asylum seekers, refugees, low-income earners, and the elderly. Spend time getting to know the viewpoint of your guide, who has experienced homelessness. Learn about and see firsthand locations like Tageshaus für Obdachlose und Jobshop, a day center with job opportunities; Bahnhof SBB, Basel’s main station; or Wärmestube Soup & Chill, which provides free hot meals to the homeless and underserved.

From Basel SBB Main Station: Take Tram No. 2 in the direction of Eglisee. Get out at the next stop Elisabethenstrasse. Walk along the tram tracks for approx. 500 feet, the Elisabethenchurch is to your left.
