Women's Aid Organisation (WAO) is a non-religious NGO based in Malaysia, committed to confronting and ending violence against women. WAO provides shelter and counseling for women nationwide and also advocates for women's rights as human rights.
To promote and create respect, protection and fulfillment of equal rights for women. To work towards the elimination of discrimination against women, and to bring about equality between women and men.
The Refuge--serves both a shelter for abused women and their children as well as a centre for WAO activities on family, women, and domestic violence.
The Child Care Centre (CCC)-- a centre for the children of WAO's ex-residents who have decided to live independently. The children are given a home, education at local schools, and a support system to meet their physical, mental and emotional needs.
The WAO Centre--serves both an administrative centre and a centre where advocacy and public education programmes are organised. Fundraising and public education activities are also the responsibility of the WAO Centre.
