Sambhali Trust is a nonprofit organization incorporating 16 empowerment projects that offer young underserved Indian women vocational training in sewing, embroidery, block printing and more, enabling them to produce artisan goods and work towards financial independence.

Tour Description

Are you passionate about becoming involved in the global women’s empowerment movement and want to discover how? Interested in learning about what is being done in India to help support local underserved young women? Come join this grassroots women’s empowerment trust in Jodhpur, India for an afternoon of visiting various projects.

During this tour, you’ll learn about traditional Indian textiles from sewing center graduates and enjoy a chai tea with the founder as he explains the work this trust has done over the past decade. Finally, you will receive a painted henna design created just for you by the local Indian women impacted by the various projects.

Tour Itinerary:

I. Introduction to Sambhali Trust from Founder and Managing Trustee Govind Rathore

Sambhali Trust has helped at-risk Indian women break the cycle of poverty and financial dependence by teaching them valuable practical skills necessary to earn a living. Hear about how this foundation, operating for a decade, has impacted over 10,000 local women and children, and learn about women’s rights in India over a chai tea.

II. Visit the Jodhpur Empowerment Center

Indian women at this center learn tactical skills to create handmade crafts in order to earn an independent income. Math and English are also taught to the women by international volunteers. Visit the Graduate Sewing Center program where you learn about textiles and have a once in a lifetime opportunity to shop uniquely designed ethical fashion and small goods items. In the decade since this project debuted, over 300 women have graduated and received sewing machines to help launch a successful future.

III. Tour ends at the office of Sambhali Trust

Complete your memorable afternoon in the trust’s beautiful office learning about traditional Mehndi designs as you receive a special henna painted just for you!

Note: Visitors have the option to include a cooking lesson in their tour for an additional price.

    The most worthwhile visit we made whilst we were in Rajasthan was to the Sambhali charity based in Jodhpur. This charity is doing amazing work with disadvantaged women and children, supporting them in all aspects of their lives and most importantly, in ways that they choose for themselves.

    Sambhali is a non profitable trust which works for women empowerment. Govind sir, trustee, is doing a great job by providing these women with education and empowerment

    During our recent visit to Jodhpur we were lucky enough to visit the Sambhali Trust and see some of the work that they are doing to empower women and girls in Jodhpur and the desert areas nearby.
