Tour Description

Beginning at Syntagma Square, wander down hidden alleyways and discover Athens from an insider’s perspective with your local guide! On your walk, you will gain an understanding of daily life in the city, where past and present still mingle. Walk through bustling city streets with Athens' major hotspots in the background: admire ancient landmarks, including the Acropolis, the Panathenaic Stadium, the Temple of Zeus, the Roman Agora, the Evzones, and the 'tomb of the unknown soldier.' Walk along the city in the steps of philosophers, conquerors, rebels, and ordinary people, following ancient and modern routes. Hear stories of social change from a neighborhood entrepreneur with the Urban Athens Collective, and gain an understanding of both ancient and contemporary Athenian life. After a morning of exploring, grab a bite to eat at a local cafe for a taste of a traditional Greek sweet.

My husband and I had a wonderful tour guide. Elena was friendly, easy to get along with and patient. She was very knowledgeable and took pleasure in sharing the history of the places we visited. She offered advice on how to get around, places we should see, and cost friendly ways to enjoy the city. We truly enjoyed the time we spent with her and learning about Athens from her. This really made us feel comfortable and informed in a new city and made our vacation an enjoyable one.
