What you’ll do

During the coronavirus outbreak, this organization is going virtual with its career development programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You can get involved by conducting one-on-one mock interviews over the phone to help emerging professionals gain confidence and sharpen their employment interview skills. Volunteers will be matched with a job seeker and provided with all questions and feedback forms. The opportunity to practice interviewing and receive oral and written feedback is incredibly valuable—of the young adults who’ve participated in phone mock interviews so far, more than half have gotten jobs in the clearing and disinfecting business.

Volunteers will be matched with 2-4 emerging professionals to call by telephone at a designated time. Resumes and interview questions will be provided, though you’re welcome to use your own questions if you’d like. After each interview you will fill out a feedback form saying how the interview went and how it could be improved. This form will help the organization tailor support for the individual going forward.
