What you’ll do

Put a group of adults at a table with crayons and paper, tell them they're coloring for a good cause, and watch how quickly they'll be talking to each other and sharing stories. Since the drawings are sent to seniors and military personnel, this activity often sparks discussions about family members serving in the military, grandparents in nursing homes, or anyone that could be cheered up by receiving a colorful drawing in the mail. This is a great team building activity that also works well as an ice-breaker at corporate meetings and retreats. This experience can be adapted to any environment (such as corporate spaces) or time frame (from 10 minutes to 1 hour).

    • After the activity, participants will sign their drawings with their first name and age.
    • Drawings should not be dated as they may not be mailed out immediately.
    • Please do not use glitter or send “Get Well” messages as the people receiving the drawings are not necessarily ill.
    • When the event is finished, drawings should be mailed to the nonprofit’s office.
