The Sala Baï Hotel & Restaurant vocational program is entirely and exclusively devoted to helping young, disadvantaged Cambodians with a preference given to girls (70%), who often have less access to education.
Tour revenue will help finance the training and education of young Cambodians from underprivileged families. Each year, 100 students are supported by the income generated from Sala Bai and the students are trained to be restaurant waiters, cooks, receptionists, or housekeeping attendants.
The hotel is open year-round except during the Khmer New Year holidays in April. The restaurant is closed on evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

When visiting temples, shoulders and legs should be covered.
Your visit begins when you are picked up by car, minivan, or traditional tuk tuk from your airport or hotel. Drop your bags off at Sala Baï Hotel & Restaurant School before sitting down for a tasty typical Cambodian lunch including an appetizer, main course, and dessert. All meals at the Sala Baï Restaurant are prepared and served by students training in the cooking and restaurant departments.
Next, meet a representative of the school who can tell you more about Sala Baï and the important work they do in Siem Reap. Then, enjoy some free time visiting the temples of Angkor Wat, exploring the city center (only 5 minutes from Sala Baï by tuk tuk), or indulging in a relaxing massage at the hotel training spa.
Later, stay overnight in one of the hotel’s guest rooms and get the full Sala Baï experience! All rooms are equipped to satisfy your needs and comfort. During your stay, you will also have the opportunity to meet students in the front office and housekeeping departments. In the morning, enjoy a good breakfast before saying goodbye to your hosts. Beyond supporting Sala Baï School, your visit will finance part of the students’ training and give them the valuable opportunity to train in real-life conditions.
The Sala Bai Restaurant School is conveniently located near Angkor temples making an ideal lunch spot while touring ruins. The 3 course lunch was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was superb. Highly recommended. Moreover, it is a school for impoverished children to receive a basic education and learn about food service and hospitality so it gives its graduates top job placements in Cambodia.
We stayed one night in the "Sala Bai Suite" after having enjoyed a truly wonderful lunch. The new school (opened late 2015) is 4-5 minutes 'off' busy Siem Reap center south along the river. An exceptional human size facility for the intended vocational training program which in itself is a wonder. You see it all - classrooms, glassed kitchen workshop, students going about their tasks, teachers smiling... The large room has all you can expect and is sold at a bargain (ALL revenue of course go to the program). The youngsters at Receptions greeted us most courteously like old family friends insisting on carrying luggage and explaining as much as they had time to. Housekeeping was more than spotless, it was thoughtful. The lunch was very well cooked indeed and the restaurant service was a delight.
Do the right thing. Stay at Sala Bai when visiting Siem Reap and Angkor.
