Come out and see the legendary Banteay Chhmar Temple, one of Cambodia’s most breathtaking national treasures! The temple dates all the way back to the 12th century and is located in a remote corner of northwestern Cambodia, recreating the spirit of mystic isolation that once existed. The tour begins with lunch prepared by a local women’s group under a straw hut. You will then be able to take a quantum leap back in time and explore the mangled temple ruins of Banteay Chhmar Temple and Ta Prohm Temple. The toppled remains, hidden passages and changing light create an ethereal setting that is guaranteed to satisfy your craving for adventure.
Additionally, you will be treated to the delightful Cambodian hospitality. Take an ox-cart tour through the village and stop at the local silk center. You will have the chance to meet and interact with the local villagers and learn about their livelihoods, where you can learn about the drastically different lifestyles certain people live. There will likely be chances for you to listen to soothing traditional music, make a scrumptious meal with a local family, go fishing, or join in one of the many festive Cambodian holidays and ceremonies. At night, enjoy a traditional dinner lit by wooden torches and be enveloped into the culture by staying in a homestay, which offers you a personal experience to see Cambodian village life up close. The Khmer people are very welcoming and generous so don’t be shy!
