Embark on a three day long unforgettable journey in Northern Albania; experience its most remarkable views, local cuisine, tunes, populations, and much more!
The journey to the village of Valbona begins with an early rise and shine. At 5 am, you will leave Tirana and head towards the Komani Lake, where at 9 am, you will be picked up by a ferry headed to the Valbona Valley. The ferry ride will mark the beginning of a fairy tale journey, offering exquisite views of wild forests, waterfalls, and the magnificent chain of the Albanian Alps. After passing through the town of Bajram Curri you will get a satisfying traditional Albanian meal spiced by ingredients only known to locals. Then, you will continue to the most remote hamlet in the Valbona Valley, known as Kukaj (home to a population of only twenty people!) There, you will visit its “Old Mill” and center. Finally, you will dine and spend the night with locals at their guesthouse.
Prepare yourself for a six-hour hike from Valbona to Theth, during which, you will see once in a lifetime views of the Balkan Peaks and the National Park of Bjeshket e Nemuna. Such a trek will be rewarded with a picnic at the top of a mountain. After a short rest, you will visit the Ethnographic Museum, the old Church, and a locally known symbol of Theth: the “Lock in” Tower. At last, you will dine and have well deserved sleep at a guesthouse.
Start the day with a local breakfast. Afterwards, hike to the Waterfall of Theth, and at around 11 am you will begin the journey to Tirana.
